Caroway Chesapeake Bay Retrievers

From the day we purchased our first Chesapeake in 1974, we have been committed to this sturdy, affectionate, intelligent breed.  Surprisingly sensitive and eager to please, we have found these dogs easy to train for field work.  Our dogs are house dogs, people oriented, and good with children.  Although I began competing with our Chesapeakes in obedience and conformation, field training has become my foremost interest, along with the breeding of top quality Chespeakes.  Recently I have enjoyed running the AKC Hunt Test. 

Caroway Chesapeakes are structurally sound, all breeding stock having OFA hips and CERF eyes.  Although we emphasize field work, all our dogs conform to breed standard.  The pedigrees of our litters combine conformation champions and field champions.  Our chessies work enthusiastically both on upland game and water fowl.  Caroway breedings have produces U.S., Canadian and Mexican show champions, several dogs with obedience degrees, many qualified all age field trial dogs, a Canadian Field Trial Champion, two Dual Champions, many dogs with AKC hunting titles, currently seven having Master Hunter titles.
